That's a subject i eventually walked away from. I couldn't find nor decipher any clear answers on it. Mostly i was trying to figure out intent, did all these people start off intending to do the child sex cult stuff. If you want to suss out the philosophy side of it, it might be worth your time to look at Zevi and the 1666 messianic movement as well as 'redemption through sin'. The Franklin coverup wasn't really a 'philosophical endeavor' however, no matter what trappings were used to dress it up.

That's not to say everyone involved was pragmatic about the operation or that the trappings don't matter, more to point out that from the point of view of 'the hidden hand' or 'deep state' they didn't really care if the vehicle was a ford or a Cessna so long is it got them where they were going.

TL;DR- Yes, it started out as diddling kids. It wasn't something that 'just happened'.
