Unless I am misunderstanding, German SOP with regard to mass graves was that when a mass grave was 'commissioned' it would be 'registered', its contents catalogued (as well as dimensions), and that it would be 'marked conspicuously' to prevent inadvertent disturbance by local farmers an the populace, similar to minefields.
Is this correct?
If so, where is the registry? It seems we would know exactly the extent of mass graves and their location by simply checking the registry.
Am I being naive here? Or was this indeed policy, and was it followed?
