Riga, 17 July 1942

2 (Labor Deployment)
E4/VI

To the
Reich Commissioner for the Occupied Eastern Territories
Dept. Labor Policy and Social Administration

R i g a,
to be forwarded to the General Commissioner
in Riga – Dept. III e ASO

Subject: Jewish labor deployment; unauthorized withdrawal of labor personnel.

In reference to the report of the G.B.K. Einsatz of 10 July 1942.

After the “Alarm” of 10.7.42, the QKW reported that in the vicinity of the airfield at Skirtonavi, 400 male and 200 female Jewish laborers are employed in gardening work, while at the same time Jewish laborers are constantly being withdrawn from construction sites for labor shortages.

This concerns the SS-managed estate Jungfernhof.
There are approx. 290 Reich Jews, of whom 160 men and 130 women are housed there. The estate itself measures about 500 Morgen (a unit of land). All agricultural work is carried out by these 290 Jews.

From the camp, 70 women have already been transferred to Riga for other assignments; 130 personnel are to be transferred from the ghetto in Riga for the remaining tasks.

The estate commander of Jungfernhof takes the view that the 290 workers are absolutely essential for maintaining the farm, and the wages of the employed laborers appear to be quite high. The matter will be discussed with the responsible SS offices in the next few days.

For the record

Am I reading this right? Why would they be worried about how high the wages were for conscripted labor at a farm?

Stuff like this, makes my brain feel like tapioca. This, this is the kind of stuff that side tracks me from what I am doing and pulls my mind around like taffy...

I still haven't found much of anything with regard to any transports I'm looking for, but, I find oddities constantly, like this little jewel.

I have to ask myself, am I, reading this right?

(There is also a memorandum a few pages before this about Dr Lange going to a place >I forget where< to preform a labor selection of 500 jews for placement in Riga, because Riga can not accommodate families with children and so such families were going to remain in place. That just runs so counter to the mainstream narrative. He would have been going to 'off' 500 jews and Aktion 1005 them if he were the caricature I'm told he was. The minister of death incarnate...)
If I were to guess why no t4 personnel were chosen to perform gassing that had experience with gassing, it would be because THERE WERE NONE.

Excellent find but I think your transcription may be off. Here is what I've come up with:

Betrifft: Judeneinsatz;
zweckmäßiger Ansatz der Kräfte.

Zum Paragraph des Herrn OSt. Hilfrot vom 20.7.42.

Subject: Deployment of Jews;
appropriate allocation of resources.

Regarding the paragraph from Mr. SS-Obersturmbannführer Hilfrot dated July 20, 1942.

Following the telephone call of July 10, 1942, the OKW (High Command of the Armed Forces) complained that 400 male and 200 female Jewish workers were employed in gardening near the Skrotava airfield, while at the same time Jewish workers were being continuously withdrawn from Wehrmacht offices. This concerns the Jungfernhof estate, administered by the SS. Currently, 290 Jews are housed there, specifically 160 men and 130 women. The estate comprises approximately 800 acres of arable land. These 290 Jews are required to perform all agricultural work. Two weeks ago, 130 workers were transferred from the camp to other assignments within the Riga ghetto.

The camp commandant of the Jungfernhof estate maintains that these 290 workers are absolutely necessary for managing the estate. This number of deployed workers seems quite high to me. I will be negotiating with the relevant SS offices regarding this matter in the coming days.

Critically, this document is additional evidence of decentralized ledgers for Jewish labor, showing siloed tracking and compartmentalization (with haggling over quotas), and no unified count across agencies. This is strong, additional support for overall Jewish under-reporting in labor utilization across the Eastern territories.
Forensics lack both graves and chambers—only victors' ink stains history's page.

Thanks Fangers much appreciated.

Like I said, tapioca...

I'm gonna take a break for a bit.

Interestingly, the 'finding guide' echos your assessment with regard to the entire folder. I'll link it later. In the mean time, I'm going to go do, anything else. I might go to the river or something.

Note: it is strikingly apparent that my OCR and translation process is flawed and needs more tuning.
