And what is the significance of Auerbach and him already being neighbors before his deportation? How acquainted were they?

Not acquainted at all. She was assigned to live/work for the artificial honey factory by other members of the Oyneg Shabes / Ringelblum Archive group. The intent was to write Krzepicki's testimony and publish it as a secret brochure this was around the time of the November 1942 "steam chamber" report. Auerbach wrote a whole introductory essay on Treblinka for the Krzepicki testimony.

August 25: Krzepicki is deported from the factory.
September 13: Krzepicki escapes Treblinka.
October: Krzepicki arrives back at Warsaw ghetto. Auerbach is assigned to work at the factory.
December (beginning): Auerbach moves to apartment at Nalewki 37, begins working at the factory.
December 28: Auerbach begins recording Krzepicki's account, who was living in a nearby apartment.

It's unclear if Krzepicki was living at Nalewki 37 in August when he was deported. Not at all clear why he'd return to the living block assigned to the workers of the artificial honey factory.

Particularly noteworthy about that Yiddish map is that the old gas chamber building was drawn as having only two rooms. Didn't Krzepicki know it was supposed to have three execution chambers with a fourth attached steam-generating room?

Of course not. In the written account, he only describes one room with metal faucets in the ceiling. He only got a single view of it from one of the two exits. So he relates no internal walls blocking his view of the multiple faucets in the ceiling, something contradicted by the standard 3 distinct chambers with hallway. Not to mention his map of the 2 rooms with no hallway.

So was Krzepicki the main source for that report? He couldn't be, because his description of the steam chambers was too different. But if not him, then who?

In the written account, he only describes one room with metal faucets in the ceiling. He only got a single view of it from one of the two exits.

Even on exits alone he was wrong. Two exits on the south exterior wall is contrary to all other sources. According to ARC's list of maps, that wall should have had either three, four, or zero exits. It's inconceivable that Krzepicki could be close enough to see inside the building but still miscount the number of doors on the outside of one wall of the building.

However, a 2-room bathhouse would make sense to separate men from women.
