Where is a link to the transcripts? If it is at all genuine I'd be interested in hearing it. Without the audio it was transcribed from however, I find any 'revelations' in the dialog dubious.

Basically, it only has the real-time textual transcripts made by the "secret listeners" (many of them Jewish refugees who spoke perfect German) that Dr. Helen Fry compiled in her book "The Walls Have Ears".

Fry is presumably overselling this big time yet her wording is careful.

The eavesdropping operation at the three sister sites during World War Two (Trent Park, Latimer House and Wilton Park) gradually revealed the full horror of the Holocaust.

Prisoners spoke of mass shootings of 300,000 civilians, the murder of 80,000 Jews in Lublin, and 5,000 killed in a single day in a Ukrainian village, supplying graphic details of Einsatzkommando atrocities. Infamous names such as Auschwitz, Mauthausen and Bergen-Belsen were mentioned, along with mobile gas trucks, the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto, and the murder of “mental defectives.”

Auschwitz is mentioned? No one cares if it's mentioned. The question is whether a million people were killed there.

Yes, regarding the Einsatzgruppen the details are more straightforward, but as for the gassings, there doesn't seem to be much to add in that department.

There's only one chapter (~20 pages) on "War Crimes and the Holocaust."

How much did the generals know about the concentration camps and how early? Their discussion in May 1945 reveals the true extent of their knowledge:

DITTMAR [re. concentration camps]: What did we know about them?

SCHLIEBEN: Everybody knew that dreadful things happened in them – not exactly what, but just that dreadful things happened – every one of us knew that as far back as ’35.

ELFELDT: We knew [what happened] in Poland to the hundreds and thousands of Jews who, as time went by, disappeared, were sent away from Germany and who after ’39 were said to be accommodated in ghettos and settlements in Poland.

SCHLIEBEN: They all disappeared.

ELFELDT: Whoever got to know that millions of these people – as the Russians now assert – perished or were burnt in Auschwitz and whatever these small places are called?

BROICH: Certainly none of us.

ELFELDT: We heard about Auschwitz when we were in Poland.

BROICH: I visited Dachau personally in ’37.

The only other major excerpt regarding Auschwitz is the one Archie posted above.

Maybe someone (not me) could read the whole book and write a review for IH. Or go through and find relevant passages.

There are a few mentions of gas chambers/gas vans, too.

One big question for any of the POWs reporting information is "how do they know this?" Because a lot of it seems to be hearsay.

The bibliography/notes reference UK national archives for the primary sources.

The original audio recordings were made on fragile material for the time and lasted for hours; they probably use this to explain the lack of public audio recordings, but there must be something in the British archives. Much material has been lost over time, but they swear that the textual transcripts are legitimate because many of the wiretapped defendants speak of common details that they could not have collaborated to gather information about.

If I can pirate a copy, I'll take it. I'm not giving that, woman, money. It will have to be after I subtitle 'The Holocaust Revisited' though. Which reminds me. I've got to go. I need to go finish cutting the times in on pt 1.

It's better than nothing. It's yet another dog that didn't bark, amongst others like camp documents, written orders, diaries, and the Enigma decrypts.

These transcripts were kept hidden for a reason, but that reason seems to have eluded Fry. If there had been a single real, incriminating quote in these secret recordings, then they would not have remained secret. This is proof against gassings.
